Known firmware issues

We provide support for the series 5 devices with firmware version 9.

Please note

However, please be aware of firmware and platform limitations when using these devices.

We recommend using the latest JSCore application, with latest BrightSign FW 9 which you can find below

We are actively collaborating with BrightSign to address reported issues in the latest firmware.

Here are the issues we have reported:

  • HDMI output doesn't always turn back on after significant time turned off
  • LS and HS devices have rendering issues with page and widget animations
  • Playing media with different sample rates causes audio drops after a few hours
  • HTTP streams are currently causing restart on Series 5 devices
    Please note

The workaround to show HTTP streams is to set the Stream widget's type to RTSP and paste the HTTP stream url into that widget.

  • Video synchronization puts strain on the devices and can cause crashes
Please note

Disabling video synchronization with Advanced device configuration can prevent some of the aforementioned crashes due to video synchronization strain.

However, please be aware that it can cause unexpected behavior with video synchronization. Page changes will still be synchronized, between two devices, but there will be no guarantee that videos start and finish at the same time.
