Create Device Folders

Adding a folder allows you to organize your devices into logical groups.

  • Newly added folders can be used to organize devices or other sub-folders.
  • Assign devices to the folder to enhance accessibility and management.
  • Navigate yourself to Devices menu
  • Click on the button next to the Devices header
  • Select the Add Folder option.

Add folder

In the Add Folder modal, you can configure the following properties:

  • Name: Provide a unique name for the folder.

  • Location: Define the location for devices assigned to this folder.

  • Comment: Add any notes or details relevant to the folder.

  • Teams: Assign teams to manage and view the folder.

    • This option is only available if at least one team exists.

Final steps

  • After setting up the folder, click Save to finalize your changes.
  • To discard your changes, select Cancel.

Once the folder is saved, it will appear in the folder hierarchy above the contents.

Find Folder

The Find folder feature allows you to quickly locate and navigate to specific folders within your device hierarchy.

How to Use Find Folder

  1. Click the Find folder button in the Devices menu toolbar
  2. The Find Folder modal opens, displaying your folder structure
  3. Use the search bar to search for folders by name
  4. Expand or collapse folders using the arrow icons
  5. Double-click a folder to navigate to it, or select and click Confirm

Find Folder Modal

This feature is especially useful when working with complex folder structures or when you need to jump directly to a specific location without manually browsing through nested folders.

Actions on Folders

In the device folder context menu, you can perform the following actions:

  • Manage devices in folder: Apply settings to every item in the group.

Content

  • Assign content: Select content, playlist, slide, or schedule to assign to every device inside the folder.

  • Unassign content: Unassign content, playlist, slide, or schedule from every device inside the folder.

  • Refresh content: Refreshes contents on all devices within the folder.

Device

  • Clear cache: Removes unused files from devices to free up storage.

  • Move to folder: Move your folder to another location or back to the root.

  • Restart: Restarts every device inside the selected folder.

  • Rapid preview: Create screenshots faster from your devices.

Folder

  • Edit: Rename or add a location to your folder. You can also add a comment here.

  • Manage tags: Edit the tags of the screens inside the folder, as if you tagged each screen one by one. It doesn't change the folder's own tags.

  • Manage folder tags: Give the folder its own tags, in the Manage device folder tags window. Every screen in the folder and in all of its subfolders inherits them, including screens added later. Each screen's tag list shows them under Inherited tags from folder, separate from the tags set on the screen itself.

    • Saving the folder's tags switches inheritance on for that folder — there is no separate switch.
    • Nested folders add up: a screen inherits the tags of every folder above it whose tags were saved this way.
    • Moving a screen or a folder updates its inherited tags to match its new place in the hierarchy.
    • An inherited tag can't be removed on the screen: change the folder's tags or move the screen instead. If the same tag is also set directly on the screen, removing the direct one leaves the inherited one in place.
    • Inherited tags work everywhere device tags do, such as Channel targeting and Quick Filters.
    • A screen's own and inherited tags together have a size limit; a save that would go over it is rejected.
  • Update: Updates every device inside the selected folder.

  • Remove: Remove the folder from the system.

Other

  • Manage Teams:
Select teams to manage and view the folder.
  • This option is only available if at least one team exists.

Restrictions (remove folder)

The device folder cannot be removed if any of the following conditions are met:

  • Used in text messages as a screen target
  • Used in playlist messages as a screen target
  • Used in playlist channel or sub-channel editor as source or a screen target
  • Used in an alert rule as a screen group
  • Used inside integration actions as a target
