What is Saturation
- A value that determines how frequently a channel alternates between different content.
- A higher saturation causes the channel to shuffle more frequently, simulating the creation of additional channels to fill the time between two videos.
- This value cannot be 0.
Example
-
We want to create a channel playlist where a specific element is played a defined number of times within the given time interval, alongside other channel items.
-
Let's say we want to play 2 pieces of content and a video, with the video playing exactly 5 times within a 10-minute time interval.
-
In our case to achieve this, we have to create 2 channels, 1 media file type channel with the video, and 1 content type where the 2 contents will be selected.
-
We hava to apply both of the channels an only-play interval,
because we want it to play only 10 minutes
. -
Because we want the video to play exactly 5 times in this interval, we can set its Saturation to 1. This way the video will play exactly 1 times in a playback slot.
-
We have to
calculate the Saturation
of the content type channel to know how many times should the content type channel play to fill the playlist between the videos. -
After we set up our channels, assign the campaign widget to the devices you want to play.
Time interval - Only-play
In channels only-play settings we have to define the time interval. In our case it will be 10 minutes.
If you need help with only-play settings, you can find information here (helpful articles, only-play)
and here (channels menu, only-play examples)
10 minutes --> 600s
Channel1 - media type channel
In this case we will use a video with 8s length.
Video length --> 8s
Saturation --> 1
Channel2 - content type channel
We have 2 contents, each has a 3s default page and a 4s nonDefault page.
Content1 length --> (default page) 3s + (nonDefault page) 4s -->
7s
Content2 length --> (default page) 3s + (nonDefault page) 4s -->7s
Channel2 length --> 14s
Saturation --> X
2
Raise the Order number in the channel if you want your video (Channel1) to play before Channel2
Calculating the saturation of Channel2
EXPLANATION:
"Time interval set in channels only-play settings (in seconds)"
10 minutes -->
600s
"Prioritized items length (in seconds)"
Video length -->
8s
"How many times you want to play the prioritized items in the given interval"
We want the video to play exactly 5 times within this interval, so we need to multiply the video length value by 5.
Multiplier value -->5
"Length of non-prioritized items (in seconds)"
Channel2 length -->
14s
"Saturation of the non-prioritized channel"
- The saturation of Channel2 is set to 40.
- This means that Channel1 will shuffle between the two videos 40 times more frequently, effectively simulating the creation of 40 additional channels to fill the time between the two videos.
Channel playlist snapshot
With Channel playlist snapshot you can verify if the setup works as intended.
Played item number in this scenario -->
166
(40 saturation x 4 non-prioritized item) + (5 x 1 prioritized item) + 1 (non-prioritized item to start the playlist)
