Microsoft Excel datasource

To create a datasource from excel you need to create and authenticate a Microsoft Excel credential in Wallboard system.

Microsoft Excel credentials:

1. Navigate to Settings > Cloud Integration > Microsoft credentials

2. Click on the Add new and select the Workbook (Excel) scope where you can choose between SharePoint or Personal types.

Please note

After you created a credential, you will not be able to modify the type, only the name of the credential.
If you wish to change the type of the credential you have to create a new with the type you need.

After you created your credential(s), you can create your external datasource.

Create datasource

Go to the Datasources > Click on the Add new inside the External datasource tab > Choose the Microsoft excel type.

  1. Select the Microsoft credential(s) you previously made.

  2. If you have personal type credential, select a Worksheet to create the datasource. If you have Sharepoint type credential, then Select the site then the worksheet.

  3. You have to decide how your datasource updates from the original source, either by selecting a Refresh Frequency or by specifying a Cron Expression

  4. You also have the option to configure alternative settings for both the datasource

  • First row is header
  • Range
  • Fetch Charts
  • Active
  • Ignore Error counter

and the editor.

  • Cache external resources
  • Remove broken external resource references
  • Rotate cache on every update
  • Exchange internal resource references
  • Request settings

You can randomize arrays if you enable the Randomize arrays function.

  1. If all this is done you can click on the save then you are done!
Please note

Some data formatting relies on regional locale settings, so please ensure SharePoint’s regional locale is correctly configured.
This setting can only be changed by SharePoint Owner! Please contact the appropriate personnel. An incorrect locale may lead to formatting inconsistencies in the generated sheet.

To avoid this issue, consider using raw text without formatting in your sheet instead of specialized number formats, as raw text remains unaffected by regional settings.
